It is the job of the Chennai City Traffic Police to issue any fines or penalties to offenders of the traffic rules of the city. The official website for the Tamil Nadu Police – https://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in contains all the information about the city and the state as well as offers a number of services to the public. The Traffic Police have access to the National Informatics Centre or NIC servers as well as the various RTO or Regional Transport Offices in the country which provide them with all the information they require to send out e-Challan’s to any offender in the country.
When it comes to the payment of the e-Challan’s issued by the Traffic Police, there are basically 2 ways to do so – online and offline. There are 3 ways to make the online payment – through the Tamil Nadu Police official website, the “Parivahan” website, and the PayTM mobile app. All three methods are extremely efficient and makes paying the fines easier and convenient.
If you choose to make the payment offline, there are a number of ways to do so. Below are the steps you can take to make the payment offline:
- Step 1: Find a Chennai City Traffic Police officer or a Tamil Nadu Police officer who uses an e-Challan machine. Provide the challan details along with your driving license, name, and address. Make the payment through cash and collect the receipt.
- Step 2: You can also make the payment directly to the Chennai City Traffic Police headquarters, the Post Office, or an e-Seva center. They will scan the bar code in the e-Challan and you can then make the payment in cash.
- Step 3: Prepare a Cheque, Demand Draft, or Pay Order in the name of the Chennai City Traffic Police and have it delivered to the headquarters with the amount included.
- Step 4: Lastly, you can send a Money Order through the Post Office in the name of the Chennai City Traffic Police.
There are a number of ways to register complaints with the Chennai City Traffic Police. One of the most efficient ways to do so is to send a text message to their WhatsApp number – 7530001100. Another helpful portal for registering complaints is through their Facebook page – Chennai City Police. You can also email the police through their email id – edccwc.chennai@gmail.com.
